Here is an example of a Shrewsbury Electric bill. The sample on
left shows the cost breakdown for a residential service customer

| Unbundled Bill Definitions |
|
Customer Charge:
|
Portion of your
bill that covers basic costs of providing service, including
metering and billing. These are fixed costs not related to how
much electricity you use. |
|
Distribution Charge:
|
This relates to
the cost of delivering electricity over the wires and poles
to a customer's residence/business. This charge also covers
administrative and other costs. |
|
Transmission Charge:
|
Covers the cost
of moving electricity over high power lines from a generating
plant to Shrewsbury Electric's service area. |
|
Transition Charge:
|
This allows Shrewsbury Electric
to collect for costs related to generating plant operations,
power contracts and energy production. |
|
Generation Service Charge:
|
A charge to cover
costs of producing electricity not covered by the Transition
Charge. |
|
PASNY Credit:
|
Credit based on
cost/availability of hydroelectric power through PASNY (Power
Authority System of New York), one of Shrewsbury Electric's
energy suppliers. |
